Yeah.. that's something you see a lot of. Just read some of the reviews that
were posted on the net at the time 'Claro' was released and you'll see
everyone comparing it to Autechre's 'Confield'. Of course, that argument
holds no water since 'Claro' was released only a few months after 'Confield'
and the tracks will have been written and mastered LONG before that.
Lassi's technical proficiency can't really be faulted either in my opinion.
He just doesn't create tracks in the same way as Autechre do. Personally, I
think Brothomstates music has far more of an emotion centre than Autechre,
at least post "Tri-Repetae" anyway.
Warp's diversification isn't really a bad thing.. I don't like Vincent
Gallo's work, but as long as Warp keep releasing stuff by the likes of Chris
Clark and Brothomstates, I'm happy. That track from Chris Clark's 'Ceramics
is the bomb' sounds fantastic.
And yes, 'Kobn-Tich-Ey' is also a great release. And free to boot.

I agree with you here. I've been digging Lassi's stuff since the
Kobn-tich-ey netrelease. The big complaint I've seen posted to this
list is that he's too derivative of abstract Autechre but without any
heart and soul and not to the same level of technical proficiency. And
just to throw another $0.02 in and start another riot, I'd rather see
Vince Gallo get dropped before anyone else on that roster.
