for those who like the ambient style of HIA & Global Communication i highly recommend the group: syntetika. their debut album "100% syntetika" on shaped harmonics is fantastic! tracks like "dreamota", "gobi sundown", & "traffic" especially remind me of that classic HIA & Global Comm. sound. regards, john

Are HIA (Higher Intelligence Agency, for those in the dark) still around? I was just listnening to Freefloater last night (on my new used stereo system) and that is one great album. Minimal, yet very funky, also spacious and well produced. I can't think of an artist with a similar sound with which to compare HIA...disco beats, hi-hats and handclaps, big surges of jello-y bass, and some squiggly sounds a la Children of the bong. Highly recommended. bands I miss: Spooky HIA Global Communication Pentatonik Autechre (hee hee) Matt --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
