I thought they were cheesy in-your-face-chicano, and I didn't find anything
new at all.
I much prefer something along the lines of Cafe Tecuba from Mexico City,
who combine many musical styles, and also serve to communicate the plight
of the various native tribes in Mexico. Definitely not IDM, and probably
not at all electronic, but a fresh take on chicano.
Are you familiar with them?
