i generally name tracks by looking around me and taking something that's sitting infront of me, or on a page of a book or magazine, or something to do with the original filename or enter a random bunch of characters and try and assemble a word type thing out of them... a;lskdjals -> 'sklodj' for instance sounds sorta cool... the only bad thing about this system is that i usually only name the track when i'm exporting the master from cubase, and most of the time end up changing it the next week, which makes it very hard to remember which cubase filename relates to which song... oh well autechre once said on IRC that they used a computer program to generate track names, then there's allways anagram programs too. bowie wrote lyrics by assembling cut up words from a hat, which i think came from Burroughs (anyone read The Soft Machine - fucking insane)... if there's no lyrics to a song then what's the point of trying to assign any kind of meaningful title for it? it seems fairly pointless to me... if the word-thing seems cool for no particular reason there's nothing wrong with that... or you mightn't use a title at all... or i guess one could try and describe the emotional response to listening to the song, so fucking what... my favourite title of mine is 'Guido de Montifeltro's Patented Spring Top Hat' which is a mixture of Flann O'Brien and Dante's Inferno. skism... np:The Cosmic Memoirs Of The Late Great Rupert J.
