and i don't think the last 4 digits of your SSN will enable them to do
much anyway.
this thing is real - the problem is, it's also pretty useless. as of 3 or
4 days ago, very few people had heard of this thing, but now I've seen it
in many places which means that so many people will sign up that the
claimants will probably get no money. so the only effect it will really
have is to *slightly* hurt the record companies, and not benefit the
consumers who get duped. but i guess that's how the law works. it's just
like the gw bush tax refund last year - it didn't really help anyone
(c'mon what would $300 do for anyone) but hurt the government (and cost a
heck of a lot of money to send out all those checks).
