i got some new ones with xmas money that i think are worth recommending... Kettel -- Cenny Crush [Dub] flowing warm synth lines, bits of guitar and pretty melodies carried on nice crunchy and intricate drums. nothing too different or original but really well done. pretty pretty. Timeblind -- Rugged Redemption [Orthlong Musork] This is fscking amazing. elements of dub, techno, hip hop - yet restrained, holding a tight deranged slow groove. I been playing this a lot, especially track2, 'desperado moves', with it's big bass shaking gangsta beat. Numbers -- Numbers Life [Tigerbeat6] not electronic at all, but it is tb6. Another amazingly good purchase, lo-fi scratchy disco punk, crazy attitude, big hooks, disjointed rythms and bass. meant to be played loud and danced to. Kit Clayton vs. Safety Scissors -- Ping Pong EP [Carpark] i think this is great, dead playful, almost like short skits, the sound of machines and computers being manipulated and hacked up, used in ways never intended, yet always retaining a melodic element. Hrvatski -- Swarm and Dither [Planet Mu] damn, this is so fine as well. Cut 'n' mashed crazy drums, beautiful melodies, whistling [especially the whistling!], pianos, quiet to loud, dsp wizardry, and just hyperactively jumping from one moment of genius to another. mp3's of mention, i also been checking out, The Faint -- everything i have downloaded has been amazing, big dancey synth punk tunes, kinda like banging techno with the Cure. Deerhoof -- more scratchy, crazy insane guitar stuff, which seems to just drip in genius also. The lady's vocals are amazing. The Books - these are mad. i have no idea why i downloaded them or where i had heard about them, but so glad i found them, i'm sure i see them mentioned somewhere. here? someones top10 of 2002 i'm sure. anyways - sparse tones, tinkly off-key percussion, violins, cut up weird spoken samples, glitch and bass, broken drums, and a completely surreal fuckin experience all together! -thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
