I really think drukqs is his best album to date, and for a number of
reasons. first of all, to me all of his other albums seem somewhat static.
Beginning with RDJ his music became a little more dynamic, but it was all
tiny footsteps towards a much larger goal. come to daddy and for the most
part windowlicker were extensions of this, although window licker was more
of the prelude to drukqs in my opinion. druqks has to be one of the most
complex albums i've ever listened to, and not so much in the
autechre-grain-cloud-additive-jizba way. beyond that, drukqs shines through
in style. no one else on this planet has his style, and you can hear it in
every single track on that cd.
on the other hand, i do have to say about drukqs that I dont listen to any
of the "melody" tracks really, minus one or two. for the most part they
sound to me like a single synthesizer with a few different chords and
rhythms, although the prepared piano stuff is interesting. all in all i
think it should have been just one cd and a lot of the melody tracks should
have been cut, but then again i dont drive a tank.
