man, i hate to be a hater (it's all about pos-i-tivity, yo!), but i must
admit ... i find the new Max Tundra release to be very annoying to the point
of being unlistenable... now, again, i'm not just trying to hate here... i'm
down with some awfully annoying j-pop, and i feel my threshold is pretty
high, but this shit is so dorky-in-a-bad-way that it ceases to be ironic and
is just difficult to swallow. it's super producer masturbation style
without the style (imo)
so, on a positive note...
i have finally realized that SunnyDayRealEstates "Something On" is just the
best damned thing in the world. are you sad? want to feel better? some
find the singers soaring a little too much, but if you can take it, this
shit is downright religious rock (actually, the lead singer was born-again
at one point)... it's baroque indierock at it's finest.

ps. anyone heard the Leafcutter John track on the new WireTapper? oh my
god. it's so amazing. i'm not super into his older stuff, but it utilizes
his amazing cut up technique, but in a very high-art fashion for the first
half of the song, and then creaps in pop sensibilities... it's a pretty
staggering achievment. proppage! .... bloodcot!
