I'm very excited for this show, Xian Hawkins has been in my record
collection a number of years now and with each release continues to grow
and inspire. I first heard him on the Emanate Records comp, he was
making idm then, later his sound transformed to this melodic electro
acoustic sound which had all the merits of his early dance tracks but
also the weight of great musicianship and the ability to evoke something
alien and yet familiar. I can't think of a category in which his music
can sit comfortably but in this case that is a good thing, I see him
alone in his art without imitators or solid reference points. We have
had the pleasure getting to know Xian and I can honestly say that unlike
many others his music is definitely a reflection of where and what he
is.
I highly recommend this show. It's his first ever solo appearance in
NYC.
