Has anyone heard any of the works of Conlon Nancarrow? His works for player piano (you know the pianos with drums of music on metal tape, sometimes called pianolas) are fantastic, often reminiscent of Autechre's rhythms on Confield, some really great stuff. For interested people you can hear a sample here: http://motion.state51.co.uk/reviews/495.html or http://news.mpr.org/features/199710/29_bakera_nancarrow/ Very, very interesting and not in a Stockhausen unlistenable way either. Genuinely pleasant too. But as aforementioned Satie is the closest to the Drukqs piano tracks. cheerio george --- It bleeps. It skronks. It krrraaaanks. georgewilliamson@btinternet.com http://www16.brinkster.com/elephants --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
