Hi! First I would like to say that I'm a HUGE Squarepusher fan. Since I fall in love with Amon Tobin's Bricolage album, I started a quest to find out other artist that were pushing drum n bass to its limit (streching it's boundaries and blending it with other genres). The sound that I was looking for was "skidzophrenic", broken, drum n bass that somes likes to call "Drill n Bass". I didn't took a while to find out some of the key artist of the genre (if somes agree on that definition). All this to say that if its the "drill n bass" aspect of Squarepusher that you enjoy here are some artists that have a sound that is somewhere near this type of thing: - Amon Tobin - Animals On Wheels (first album "Designs and Mistakes", now more into idm with less skizophrenic drum n bass madness) - Clifford Gilberto (more jazzy, less broken) - Aphex Twin If it's the weirdness and the brokenness aspect of Squarepusher that you enjoy, I would confess that I'm still looking for that and it's nearly a full time job ;-). But some day, I came to Venetian Snares... Oh my lord, this guy is wicked! I would say, and that's a very personnal and "not enough informed" opinion, that I've not found yet any other artist that satify my thirst for "broken-skidzo-experimental-drum n bass sound" like those 2 artists: - Squarepusher - Venetian Snares If you have not yet listened to Venetian Snares, I mandate you to do so, I'll garante your statisfaction ;-). Go to http://www.planet-mu.com and have some sample of both: VSNARES - 237 0894 VENETIAN SNARES - HIGGINS ULTRA LOW TRACK GLUE FUNK HITS 1972 - 2006 Hope that other people from the IDM list can help both of us in our "quest" for experimental drum n bass "a la" Squarepusher... ----- Original Message ----- From: "al" <al_w@hehe.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Sunday, November 24, 2002 3:01 AM Subject: [idm] better than squarepusher
