Hard to say since there's really no *hard* definition of IDM.
I remember first hearing something i recognized is electronic music/techno
when i was in 9th grade and tuned into the college radio show that dieselboy
had...he played uk breakbeat hardcore back then.
As far as IDM...its hard to say...because i listened to things that
some people consider IDM for a while, but never with alot of interest.
I always avoided it because it seemed like a really full of itself/overly
academic genere. I first really started looking into "IDM" artists
after picking up the the takeshi muto 12" on schematic from massive
records a couple years ago.
