in my excitement about how beautiful (or beauiful, for those of
you playing the 'spot the typo' home game), i didn't mention
the reasons i like these so much...
on the customer service ep, the tracks are progressive without
seeming contrived or sickly sweet...they just tug at my heartstrings
and make me want to dance around in my room as though enchanted
or energized by the skipping beats and sparkling synth...lots of
clicky prettiness, but also some complexity and depth, and even
a little triphop, and some plaid-like funkiness.
the cottage industries compilations are an excellent collection
of lots of dense, clearly thought-out, polished IDM. some tracks are
harsher, and some are silkier, but all round out well and offer
a lot of hooks for your mind, whether you're paying attention or
not.
