I work very hard at not knowing, lest I should realize that I probably need
the regimen of shock therapy and antipsychotic meds which many people
already suspect I need when they walk into my aparto and see what I have
amassed. I sell on ebay not to get rid of what I don't like, but to feed my
habit and keep the rent paid/lights on. If only I would stop *spending* the
better portion of what I make on ebay AT ebay (as well as buying regularly
from the usual suspects via mail order, GEMM and some "real world" [imagine
that!] binning at Record Time, etc.), this might work a bit better. What I
find is that when I do manage to cut a bit in one place, I tend to make it
up and then some elsewhere. Although I'm sure it gets worse at points, my
guess is that if I have dropped less than 600-700 in any given month,
someone should check me for vital signs. If anything, I am erring on the
conservative side with that estimate. The ebay thing, a few credit cards,
two checking accounts and a wife who is wonderful and likes music as well
all make it easily to live in blissful ignorance of an obvious addiction.
If you want me to grab one of your categories below, I am broke and
musically stimulated. You know how the American economy has been riding on
a false bubble, speculating on future profits, shifting things around to
make it look like things are rosier than they are? I understand that - only
even with the spin, my situation doesn't look as great (hey - I'm in an
apartment). Similarly, you can all show your patriotic allegiance with my
state of affairs (and possibly thwart some terrorists) by bidding high and
often on my ebay auctions :-) In the meantime, I am not going to sign any
statements about my accounting practices.

ps
while that was meant to be silly, sometimes
some nice stuff goes for dirt on ebay.
For every overbid rarity there are 100
decent deals waiting to be found.
