I mean like PCP and Cold Rush labels, Marc Acardipane, Mescalinum United, DJ Promo, Catscan, Dr Macabre, Fifth Era, EBE Company, Crossbones? I'm looking for mailing lists, websites and other sources of information to find out more about what's good. The reviews section on www.crossbones.co.uk put me onto some very good stuff indeed, so more like that would be cool. Also, anything a bit further from the "mainstream" (poor choice of word perhaps) of this kind of music would be good to know about too. I found it pretty hard at first to find out about this stuff, there's definitely a distinctive sound that I like but the scene crosses over into speedcore (fast music can be good, but speed is not always necessary), gabber (some of which is too gratuitously "trashy") and digital hardcore (which as far as I can tell has more in common with punk than techno) some of which I like but they're definitely moving away from what I'm really after. I never found the C8 list entirely satisfactory, especially since I'm far more into stuff that "knows its roots" so to speak, ie techno/rave/hardcore derived music and that's a bit more intelligent, not just pure gratuitous noise. I like Somatic Responses very much, but some of the sorta power noise type stuff that gets released on the same labels really doesn't do it for me, if I want something that industrial I tend to listen to Skinny Puppy or Download. Oh yeah, and I like Praxis records lots too. thanks, Ross --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org DJ Joel Fever - Dancehall Reggae/Hardstep Jungle "First DJ To Endorse Own Hot Sauce" [Skhoolyard Sound System - MA,Neverending Echo - MA] 06.26.02 @ 1625 Tremont St. Solstice Cafe 06.29.02 Tru Dat (HIND CLAW) Asylum + dusting off old tech recs for tag 07.12.02 Tech Assimilation (HIND CLAW) Fuse MIXES FOUND @ http://www.neverending-echo.com/audio.htm http://americandnb.com --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
