Actually it was an article on WIRED News (owned by Lycos), not in WIRED
Magazine (owned by Conde Nast). They used to be owned by the same company,
but have been separate for a few years now. They still cross-promote, so
it's pretty confusing, but there are certainly big differences in article
quality...
