The same principle being applied to digital recordings could be applied to vinyl, they could press it with a watermark that would then be recognized by digital encoders that would either accept or deny it for encoding. Although how it would react to scratches, cuts and pitch shifting would be anybody's guess. In any case, i'm pretty sure theres no fool-proof way of copy protecting music.
