Jelinek has written that he is very interested in placing formal restrictions on his music to see what he can achieve without breaking them. On 'loop-finding-jazz-records' I understand his two limitations were that he would use only samples from jazz records, and that every track would be an experiment in using the shifting loop points function on his sampler. I'd say that the latter precludes the possibility of the results being like jazz. So it may have been a marketing decision to play up this angle, but on Jelinek's part (unless he's just making shit up after the fact) the use of jazz samples was an artistic choice. Arguably a fairly arbitrary one, given the results.. :) Michael - http://www.ampcast.com/jetjaguar http://www.involverecords.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
