Last night's LA show was really great! Clair Focus played some classic Detroit, and other great tunes. She took me by surprise when she dropped lfo - Brainstorm, not the Mark Bell LFO but some other lfo from 1991 era techno. I heard the promoter of the night gave her crap for playing Photek "Mine To Give", that's too bad they weren't more open minded. Whether you like the song or not it's not cool to interrupt someone while they are djing, just because you don't like one song. John Tejada's set was probably one of the best ones yet. I've seen him at least five times live this year. You can definitely hear a Plaid influence on his newer material for Plug Research, which is out in May. He also has an album on Robin Porter's Immigrant Records out the same month. CiM's set was very very nice. You could hear alot of influences to classic idm and detroit, but it sounded very fresh and exciting. I'm looking forward to more CiM material!! Check out the deFocus tour if it comes to your city!! The event "Storm the CPU" should be pretty cool. Tonight March 30 (Sat) * Storm the CPU -- LIVE: Silicon Scally (Voice Stealer / Il.ek.tro / Random Factor / SCSI / Subvert / Klang Elektronik), Pieter K (Metaformal / Palette / Breakbeat Science / Renegade), RD (ELM), Cybrid (Exact-Science), Volsoc (World Electric / Pretension), The Fisherman (Grafix / Pretension). 9pm. Downtown Los Angeles. Info: 323.860.6669. --- Simon Walley <cim_@hotmail.com> wrote:
