bringing electronics into the soft, sappy world of guitars! really though, ColdHouse has some very nice stuff on it in terms of taking 'wimpy indie rock' and throwing in some 'not forced, but quite natural feeling' electronic textures. the best part about it is that it sounds so appropriate. like if you weren't paying attention you wouldn't even notice. it's definitely coming from the rock camp as opposed to the DNTEL that came from the electric camp and incorporated 'indie' elements.

interesting, i'm currently listening to _the cycle of days and seasons_ for the first time (hood circa 1999). it's really nice stuff & also mixes guitars along with electronics in a very natural way. hood's music has a great sense of texture. doesn't hurt it was produced by matt elliott (of 3rd eye foundation fame)... i just saw hood perform in boston ma last week. it's worth checking out - first 1/2 the show was a mix of rock+electronics (lots of sampled beats), became progressively more rock further into the set. oh and i believe they're performing with clouddead in austin, that should be rather interesting.
