I'm quite confused here, some say that the earliest albums >(Hong Kong) are superior to the new stuff, while others claim that >only >the >new stuff is interesting and worth noting. personally, i think everything by monolake is pretty good. if i had to suggest one to start with, i'd probably go with "interstate". all of their albums are widely available, you just might have to order them if you're local record store can't or won't.

What would be the best and most diverse > >statement >of their sound? >- Same thing for Basic Channel (best BC album?)...
one thing: the c.r. stuff tends to sound VERY similar. there is a compilation called "chain reaction compiled", so i guess that would be the most diverse, but don't be suprised if it all blends together to sound like one artist's album. for basic channel, there is no "album" per se. there is only a compilation cd, which doesn't have all the tracks from the 12"s. the cd is recommended, and i, for one, tend to like it more than most c.r. stuff....still, if you can get the 12"s....there are nine of them. other than that, i would highly suggest purchasing the MAURIZIO cd, which is basically the same guys who were behind a lot of the b.c. stuff, only here they're doing a more house influenced sound...actually, it's basically the blue print for all of the minimal/dub tech house that's so popular these days. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
