Just in case any fans don't know... ..."Piper at the Gates of Dawn" gets its title from one of the chapters in Kenneth Graham's 'The Wind in the Willows'... a trippy chapter at that, when the book suddenly takes one of its two serious turns (the other is in 'Wayfarers All', one of my cherished bits of purple prose!). In 'Piper'... well, maybe I'd better just let you read it. It can be read without perusing the rest of the book -- and will reward you if you do.
