as far as i know Drexciya is still a mystery for the most part. i found
these links online:
http://techno.ca/cognition/drexciya.htm
http://www.phinnweb.com/links/artists/drexciya/
http://www.etronik.com/section.asp?sectionId=12&IssueId=20
i think that they have strong ties to the Underground Resistance thing,
having appeared on one of their compilations at least. Also, I've heard
rumors that they may be partially or completely responsible for the Gigolo
label projects Japanese Telecom and Dopplereffekt (I'm quite sure these 2
overlap with one another, if not with Drexciya) as well as Other People
Place on Warp. I haven't heard the OPP release but I really like JT and
Dopplereffekt... sometimes very cheesy stuff, especially Doppler's fake
German aliases and porno/mannequin fascinations. :-)
I don't necessarily think they have a strong classical background from
hearing the music myself, but it's possible I guess. I think "The Quest" has
some more interesting moments though than the newest one (although I really
like the newest one too, despite its 4-on-the-floor tendencies that seem to
rub people the wrong way) so I would recommend checking that out if you
haven't already.
