I don't think I can help. I mean, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about re: pads, so that criticism admittedly goes over my head. I know enough to know he's not the most complex music maker out there, but he fits a niche in my head, and I like him. I would think people would complain about all the time-stretching and echoing he uses, but even there, I think he uses it to great effect... I'm a bit confused, though, did pietro mean that these artists were the "next big thing" or that they were boring him and making him also wonder what the "next big thing" would be?
