Fair enough - you have a right to whatever your opinion on the
matter is. Maybe your 'mistake' is coming to it now, from the angle
of the future looking back down in time? You are comparing it to his
recent work, and of course it's different. Whether or not it 'holds
up' is another question of opinion.
For me, this is a very special atmospheric slice of aural ambience.
My husband (who owns a recording studio and has been immersed
in music from the year dot) thinks it's crap. Who's right? (Obviously
nobody - it's valid to feel whatever you feel, and if it does nothing
for you, then... turn to something that does).
Personally I've always loved this album dearly. I even have two
copies of it. Granted, you need to be in the mood for it, and it ain't
dance muzak :-) I think, as far as electronic/ambient music goes,
this one's a landmark. But no point hanging on to it if you don't
enjoy it.
