it's funny in that I didn't own a squarepusher album or anything by Aphex
beyond the girl/boy 12" until around 3 months ago... and had mostly forgone
the classics (FSOL, artificial intelligence comp., etc.) in favor of
skam/schematic/morr music etc. but now I'm discovering all the early
influences (by way of their recent releases, mind you) and it has been a real
ear opener. on the other hand, there is some really good stuff out there
right now. even the so-called derivative/programmer virtuoso stuff that
people criticize as being formulaic sounds pretty damn good to me.
