zach, before dissing the two-step weeklies you should check them out. mikebee -- a former jungle dj who shifted to two-step because jungle just got tired, in his opinion -- and jason greer do the excellent night bottomheavy at the top (though last night they had blame, in a return to their jungle roots). admittedly it's not a straight two-step night, but that's one of the ways the genre works best, i think, mixed in with leftfield house, breaks, broken beat etc. there are a slew of similar nights and even more oneoffs, many recently at buzz 9 in soma. i play at movida lounge a couple saturdays a month, and typically play dark & tough two-step, since the yuppies there don't seem to notice or care what you play. monty luke's another dj to check out -- he plays on a more soulful tip, with a lot of 4x4 UKG, but mixes in house and broken beat alike. philip sherburne contributing editor, neumu https://www.neumu.net/needledrops
