i could see this correlation being made, if only because the face value is fairly similar, in terms of crunchy beats, flowing melodies, etc.... although obviously proem is much darker and a little more aggressive.

i wouldn't necessarily lump fennesz or vladislav delay into "average sound collage stuff"... "endless summer" from fennesz was a pretty impressive album in my opinion. but i digress.

not especially. you might look into the autechre material immediately preceding it if you're not already familiar with it, such as the 2nd peel session EP and ep7, although i find ep7 to be much more conventional in spots. i've always thought that what made autechre special is their ability to move forward without regarding trends or cliches, and they seem to have really been able to stay more than a few steps ahead of the pack for most of their career thus far. then again, there's always that terrifying idea that, god forbid, this is a highly original album with no immediately similar comparisons to be made. ;-) _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
