I, myself, don't need to "understand" how an artist created a song or a sound or whatever. I listen to what I like to hear, and vice-versa... For instance, I have no idea how BoC comes up with the sweet tunes that they make, and I really don't care to know either. In fact, it'd almost take something away from it if I knew just how they made alot of their samples and FX.
