so someone on this list was raving about the andre estermann - balloon 2LP recently, so i picked it up. it really is excellent - wonderful meloncholic melodic stuff - just what i like. but here's the funny part: the title track was previously released on andre's M.A.S. 12" in 97 (which also happens to be one of my favorite records). so the song kicks in, and i think - hey, i love this track - then i think - hey this is WAY too fast. and that it dawns on me that i've been listening to the M.A.S. 12" for years at the *wrong* speed. funny thing is, it never even occurred to me to kick it up to 45. i just pulled out the record and listened to it at 45 and i just really can't enjoy it as much at that speed. (of course, that's probably due to a lot of repeated exposure at 33) you may now laugh at me.... just curious - has anyone else had this happen with this or any record? it's one of the things about idm that amuses me the most - so much of it you can get away with listening at whatever speed suits your ears, no? - d np: tim koch - shorts in alaska
