Stuff I've found noteworthy so far: Funckarma - Solid State Best album I've heard this year by a comfortable margin. Programming is perfection, but more importantly these songs have an emotive depth lacking in most stuff I hear these days. Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives There seems to be a belief that Machine Drum was the originator of this style rather than Herren. Where are people getting that? "Estrocaro" came out in October 2000 which was several months before "Now You Know..." Regardless, this album is just quality listening throughout. "Nuno" might be my favorite track of the year. Fennesz - Endless Summer Would like it even better if the first track had been omitted. Not cohesive with the rest. My first real foray into whatever genre this falls under. Gorgeous. His track on Click & Cuts 2 is something special too. Crunch - (What ever the title is) Nothing we aren't used to. Just classic "IDM." Bauri - Lakonia I really dig this. Need to track down more Bauri. Boards of Canada - In A Beautiful Place Out In the Country God I'm looking forward to their next album/whatever. Overall I'm a little disappointed with this year. While Morr Music and City Centre offices have been solid, their releases haven't been as stellar as I would have thought based previous ones. Of the heavy hitters, the strongest release was probably Plaid. Lots of people seem to be hyping Abfahrt Hinwil. Hearing the loops on the Toytronic site did nothing for me, so I'm wondering if those are short repeating loops and the songs have more to them? Any help? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
