Lately I've been getting a kick out of tracking down late '80s and
early '90s dance remixes with chopped-up vocals. A lot of these sound
like precursors to Prefuse-73 and other IDMers. Here's a couple of
examples:
Bass Bumpers: The M.E.L.L.O.--the rap's all stuttery
Lisette Melendez: Together Forever (Berrios Beats)--reads: "Edited at
Prime Cuts, N'Y. with a Razor Blade"
It's pretty cheesy stuff, but the vocal tracks are insane. Anyone
know of other examples?
