i'm in love with Noriko Tujiko (new mego)
very un-mego as there is singing and more traditional song structures. kind
of japanese bjork meets cornelius, then minimized. a lot of really cool
vocal looping that goes a step beyond kid-a in some ways.
interesting use of traditional japanese melodies and progressions as well.
i think she does all the music. it's very sparse in a lot of ways, but the
arrangements are very sophisticated when listened to closely. and the art
rocks. i unfortunately missed her when she came and played a midnight
thursday show at tonic.
recommended.
np: coredump 60 sec mp3s on rotation.
