there are very many classic earlyy 90-s ambient albums.....
some old classic fax discs (silence, air, dreamfish, sad world)
early rising high (neutron 9000, syzygy, james bernard, mlo)
all three albums by by global communication
solar quest "orgship"
everything from recycle or die (more 1995 than 1993-1994, but it's
still very 'old school')
fsol "lifeforms"
jam & spoon "tripomatic fairytales 2002" (no cheesy trance here! it's all
ambient/dub, excellent album)
v/a "chill out" (phase 1 & 2) (and almost everything from 'instinct
ambient' label)
v/a "freezone: a phenomenology of ambient"
and some classic tracks coming from non-ambient albums:
- barbarella "barbarella" (irresistable force mix)
- shamen "re:iteration" (fsol mix), "scientas" (irresistable force
mix)
- cabaret voltaire "project 80" (it's 50+ minutes long, so it's more
like an album :)
- some of early sun electric (sarotti, r-gent). they also have a
fantastic ambient album called '30-07-94', but it came out in 1995, I
don't know if it's old enough for you :)
