I had a very pleasent day at datamusik, although I enjoyed the first
part of the concert most. The first 5 hours was outside, along the
harbour (with the lineup listed in helix' mail), and the last 6-7 hours
was inside an old factory, a location with quite a 1992-rave-feel to it.
Opiate's and Stefan Betke's (=Pole) dj sets was top notch in my opinion,
surprisingly hip-hop, actually I think Betke played the entire b-side of
the prefuse73 cd plus lots of other similar stuff. Unfortunatly, as the
evening moved along, weird rave-heads hi-strung on drugs started turning
up. This had (I think) a bad influence on the artists, because Safety
Scissors and Monolake played very hard, with fast-pounding bass drums,
and even Andreas Tilliander followed along. Not exactly what I enjoy.
But the first part of the day, with Opiate+Orchard+Manual, Monolake,
Mokira and all the other short live sets was very enjoyable. The nice
weather, the harbour and the good idm music was an excellent combination.
