I have to agree. I prefer to buy CDs also, but I don't have a ton of money so I tend to go for stuff that I've been introduced to by someone else, or had recommended to me, or can listen to in the store - there is some IDM that I find deeply boring or annoying and I don't want to waste my measly supply of cash. I find mp3s great for checking out some artist that I'm curious about but haven't heard yet - my tiny contribution to Aphex Twin's sales figures is entirely due to mp3. That's also how I first heard Boards of Canada, Venetian Snares, and a few other artists whose stuff I now have on CD.
