FYI, the info I found on the s://kimo mailinglist (http://www.skimo.com), should answer all your questions: MIK AT HOME : Return of the Bantam LP (SENDERTECHNIK) $12.25 Mik At Home is best known for his collaborative work with Berlin s most talked about 8-bit electropopper Skanfrom. This is Mik s first solo full-length and is a killer addition to the Hardwax-related family of homegrown talent. With a sound reminiscent of Solvent at their finest, the 8 tracks here have an analog, spacious electroid squelch of a sound with large doses of pop thrown into the mix. 10min-Tobhirte is a total Skanfrom-esque winner, naïve and rich with a bedroom full of vintage synths, while Bone has an almost oriental vibe to it, a touch of Isan-ish loveliness. LP closer Pau lowers the tone with a gorgeously understated shimmering beatless piece. Ace. VERY LIMITED COPIES AVAILABLE!!!! ME-KOTHAMI :Anjuna LP (SENDERTECHNIK) $10.75 The second of this weeks releases on Sendertechnik comes from the unknown Me-Kothami. This is another excursion into electroid territory but the emphasis here is on orchestral pieces, soundscapes flowing into a crisp and crunchy beat section. The instrumentation is warm, veering towards a subtle layering of soothing analog sounds. Sea Of Cortee brings to mind I Care Because You Do era Aphex Twin, with carefully constructed percussive stretches and introspective washes of sound Killer stuff. The flip opens with S.O.I.A., a darker affair with squashed breaks that, from the 6 tracks on offer, proves to be the weakest link. The utterly gorgeous and playful/melancholic assortment of Piano keys and found sounds that make up Lurslittle more than compensate with a truly original, gem of a track. Playground I is equally mesmerising Reichian overlays of accoustic keys loop themselves into a Marimba-esque wall of sound before the crunch returns to flex the neck. Recommended.
