House of 909 was born from a chance meet up between Nigel Casey (a DJ for 10
years and ex-promoter of the legendary "Kevin's House" in Bournemouth) and
Affie Yussuf (already a recording artist for labels such as Force Inc. and
Ferox of which he was co-founder).
House of 909 grew from a couple of releases on an electronically-based
label 909 Perversions. Then Trevor Loveys and Jamie Cox were signed up and
the deep house collective was conceived. Martin Howes entered the fold and
the stage was set to go onto great things.
House of 909 is a collective born out of the purest roots of house music.
The deep funky New York-influenced sound is a feeling that 909 holds dear.
They understand what deep house really means and we hope you do too.
Although they shy away from the industry limelight, they are now ready to
moving on and getting the credit they deserve.
The "Deep Distraction" single is the first in a long-term relationship with
Pagan Records and their most accomplished to date. "The Main Event" is
reminiscent of early Deep Dish with a chunky bass line and floating chords.
This is proper dance music, avoiding the easy clichés but with the impact to
raise the hairs on the back of the neck of any self respecting clubber or
home listener. Jazz influences pervade all their work and this EP is no
exception, they make musical house at it's best.
"Soul Rebels" is House of 909's first full length album release. It is an
astounding mix collection featuring the very best of their work to date
alongside some amazing exclusives.
Their second single "Moodswings" is out now complete with a remix from
Muzique Tropique (Scotland's Kevin McKay) and the album "Soul Rebels" is now
available on Pagan Records.
