This comes up once in a while in various forms and
guises, so I'm sorry if this really bugs some of you.
What tracks do you people think just seem to be the
wrong length? Like, it was so good it should be
longer, or it just feels like it ended too soon. Or,
it should be shorter for some opposite reasoning...
Here are the few I've noticed that prompted me to
write this:
Autechre "krib" from cichlisuite; this should be
longer. It's gorgeous and they just stop it too soon.
Bogdan Raczynski "Pierwsze kroki" (track 6) from the
new EP; I can't decide if the short, wrong-note
cut-off is artful genious or just damn annoying.
Autechre "lentic catechresis" from confield; too long.
Excellent album-closing effect, until it just keeps
going and going...
Autechre "all tomorrow's linoleum" from the all
tomorrow's parties 1.0 comp; not to pick on AE, I've
just been listening to them a lot lately. Anyways, I
like this track, but it seems roughly cut at the end.
Just a little longer would feel better to me.
Proem "boring alice" from Aurora comp; gorgeous track,
too short, though maybe it would be less gorgeous if
it were longer.
Why am I sending this in? It'll only bring me
flames...
