this got me thinking. is there anyone on this list that doesn´t make music
him/herself?
is there such a thing as an "idm"listener that is nothing but a listener?

While some people hate it, some people genuinely appreciate it.
The same goes for posting playlists for weekly radio shows.
Some people *only* post self promo spam and nothing else.
Some people could care less and post regularly about their latest mp3.com
track (this one is the best yet - a dark crunchy idm track that starts off
slowly and builds into a distorted bassline with chords on the 8th and 13th
bars....etc.)
Other people resort to more subtle tactics like an informative sig.
Personally, I would highly recommend lurking in the shadows for a while as
this list goes through cycles and you might want to see what the temperature
is before jumping right in.
For what it's worth though, I greatly enjoy receiving info about new
unsigned talent - much of the free music they provide is included in my
webcasts where they can hopefully get a little more exposure.

Hello, Im new to this list...about 5 min....but have
been into I.D.M. since the very early 90's.
I would like to start by politely asking how you
people feel about people posting to this list to
promote "band" web site, cd's etc....I am about to
start promoting a cd I've just finished to a few
labels, and could use some potential listeners to pass
through my web site...maybe join the list and get a
free copy of the cd....
Im not going to give anymore info on that until I know
how you guys feel about people posting that kind of
stuff....I know people on some lists and message
boards get really angry, even though it is on
subject....It is I.D.M. (in my opinion, or at least it
would appeal to I.D.M. listeners)
