Can't answer to the 'general consensus' part of this, only answering for myself - and I'd have to say that honestly I prefer Geir Jenssen's early output. Patashnik & Microgravity might be referred to as dated by some, but for beautiful ambience, they always hit the spot. Also, one of the most beautiful tracks EVER ends off Patashnik "En Trance" - it's worth seeking out.
