It's not particularly exemplary of what SHJ has done in the past, but they
have always had jazz leanings, so this is could sort of be considered an
extreme of that. The mix of horn and string sounds back on the "Million
Shades" album had a noir kinda feel at times.
Given how "out" this album is, it may be of more interest to fans of the
sampled material -- the avant-garde jazz of Evan Parker, Tim Berne and so
forth -- than to fans of Springheel Jack.
Of course, if you like both, you'll be happy.
