well first of all, most hip hop/rap samples other "classic" music,
but that doesn't mean it can't be good in itself-
Now on the one hand you generalize about rap so I'm responding to
that. On the other hand you mentioned "today's rap" so THEN I'm not
sure if you meant all rap music or mostly the newer stuff? Anyway ...
Public Enemy, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash, um Beastie Boys? just to
name a few, all don't fit your description.
You want somebody more current or newer on the scene ... I don't
really know as much about that but there are a few. And I think the
older 80s and early 90s hip hop artists continue to be an influence
(on some of those making IDM ).

Personally I think electronic artists should (and will) look to and
be influenced by whatever they find compelling.
Ruin the entire genre of electronic music? or even just IDM? I don't
think anyone's in danger.
