i note the new "Spin" has a feature on 'Laptop Funk and Powerbook Pop', with
mini-interviews + features on Matmos and the SF crew (Kid606, Lesser,
Blechtum..)
anyhow, idmlist is rather prominently mentioned - re:kid606, 'he has carved
out a career as a thorn in the side of IDM ("Intelligent Dance Music"),
originally the name of an Internet mailing list for Aphex Twin fans, now a
subculture of geeky obsessives.'
Geeky obsessives? How dare you?! I mean, Matmos are pictured in the mag
using a violin bow on a plastic-plant-covered table lamp, but they're
touring with Bjork, so they can't _possibly_ be obsessive or geeky.. can
they? :P
heehee, but mock outrage aside, my favorite quote - Kid606 musing on Cex:

Ah.. if he gave a shit? Ahhhh, it all becomes clear. C'mon, I see a vital
and potentially amusing IDM-list fight starting here. Let's get it _ON_ :P
on the other hand, I just noticed the afore-mentioned "Spin" article was
written by.. wait for it.. Simon Reynolds. and if that's not a cue for
another idmlist flamerant, i don't know what is 0:)
