Tortoise was originally going to play a venue in Michigan, but decided to do
the DEMF instead. Excellent set, despite the large venue. It was amazing
to see storm clouds moving in as they started Djed. In my opinion the
tracks from "Standards" hold up better live than the majority of their
earlier songs. Mouse on Mars will be in Detroit (magic stick, I'm pretty
sure) on the 29th, though. Even if you're not familiar with their stuff,
they are a great show, not to be missed. To me, they really set a new
standard for the quality of performance in electronic music. Best use of
live drums in an electronic set I've ever seen.
