Basically they have this 'We turn the meaning of 'Economy' (read Cheap) into more Value (Quality) slogan at the moment ... I hate translating from German. So.... a free translation of the spirit of the thing rather than directly. They invited representatives of current electonic music to use samples from Migros material (jingles, interviews, shop-ambience/environmental sounds and concerts they put on) and produce a track. They could mess up, mix, cut & paste the samples anyway they wanted and the only condition was that they actually use some of the migros stuff... thus complete artistic freedom was guaranteed (ahem) The results, pressed to vinyl, are consistent with the normal artistic output of the musicians.... with the single limitation of maximum 7 minutes per track. Then it goes on to describe how the DJ, Roli Widmer gathered all the samples together and gives source information etc... that's the CD image you see at the top. I'm not actually sure if they are seeing a CD is available or not... it might be saying it is available with the original sample CD together so you can check both inputs & outputs. Whatever.... these are pretty exclusive tracks and you are not likely to find them anywhere else.... which is probably what most of the artists are hoping for as they obviously sold their souls for wads of Swiss Franks to commerce ;) Actually... the Migros is really supportive of all sorts of new artistic endeavours and fresh talent... so they are not a bad choice to sell out to ;) Hope this was helpful... and I hope that means I get away with not turning off my spammy sig-file ;) Peace Zoz/TLF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Orblike - Orbitalesque - Art of Noise-ish The Love Frequency: http://www.mp3.com/tlf ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
