Woo hoo! Much fun was had by all. Otto was crunchier than I expected, more aggressive. That polka-with-chubby-white-guy-rapping tune I thought was confusing, but overall was great fun. Phoenecia was a bit more subdued, more atmospheric than I've seen them in the past. Not as loopy as Randa Roomet, nothing even close to as noisy as Odd Jobs. To start up this controversy again: To paraphrase Quiny Jones- "The term 'rap music' is an oxymoron. I hear the rap, but where's the music?" There was a whole lotta beats and extremely complex rhythmic programming going on, but not much in the way of bass lines, melody or harmony. It's the same reason I'm so turned off by a lot of the Ant Zen stuff. Fascinating the first couple times you listen to it (on cd I mean), but it gets really old really fast. I hadn't had Lipswitch for more than a few months before dumping it off at the used store. It was wonderful to see so many people at an idm show so absolutely intent on dancing. Superior vibe all night. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
