been listening to this with a really critical ear i guess ive been waiting
for orb to do something shitty or half assed ever since it thinned down to
just the two alx and thomas
like how could these two guys do what used to take like 5-10 ppl per album
to churn out
but this is a great great album, totally orb yet totally exploring new
territory, or old territory in a new way
really amazing stuff how they took that classic orb sound and took it in
such a bold new direction without skipping a beat-- i think this is
definitely going to be another cult classic album of theirs
its like ambient done right making you say "yeah this is what i want
ambient music to be like" and you wonder why the fuck nobody else can seem
to pin it down like alx when it just seems to fucking natural and simple
for them.
i was thinking alot about that, the guy really has an amazing gift to
simply not be in a hurry when he's composing, and yet knowing exactly how
much extra content to add to keep things interesting, and where to stop
adding things. i think he can take just about anything and spread it out
across 10 minutes and just make it amazing, i've only the vaguest notion of
how he does it.
