I was blown away last night too. I've been a fan of Ae for years, although my interest lessened when they became more "noise oriented." Hence after Chaistic Slide I only hear moments of greatness; the rest sounds like sheer experimentation in sound manipulation; utterly unlistenable in my opinion. The only good thing I heard last night was when Rob Hall played Plug's "A Subtle Blend" track...and it looked like he played it straight from "State of the Nu-Art" cd from Instinct(?). How impressive. Someone I met said that Ae once played "Bike" from "Incunabula" live somewhere and it was awesome...so I was hoping that maybe they would surprise me in between all that fooking noise. You know, like "Inhake 2" or "Drone" type stuff. I would have gone nuts to have heard something from the Anti ep, but I figured that wasn't going to happen, especially since the new album is out. Anyway, the tickets said the event started at 8 p.m. They let us in at 7:45, and Hall had just hit the decks (or maybe Dats). His shit didn't stop until 10 fooking p.m., when Ae finally hit the stage. I think most people thought he overstayed his welcome. However, I wouldn't tell you not to go see Ae. Maybe you might like those uninspiring heartbeat beats with shit thrown on top. The sound system was good though. Nice and loud. I'm sure a few folks thought it was too loud as I did, so we moved to the balcony. Plus it made for a better recording. Don't get your hopes up though, I ditch the two minidiscs on High Street minutes after leaving the show. I'm sure some cars were able to make some good crunchy beats while driving them into pieces. If I'm lucky, maybe the funkstorung dudes found the discs and decide to turn it into something worthwhile and release it as the next Mask. As for the crowd, I could really care less what people looked like and how they dressed. If you did care, you must be some fooking new school kid who was too busy sucking ecstasy through your pacifier. You know who you are...you were 10 years old listening to Barney tapes when Ae released Incunabula. Yes, I did see a few gothesque types that looked liked they decided to forget about Outland for one night and to hear something new. I thought they only added to the crowds diversity. As for me, I'm glad I found a chair to sit in for the entire performance. Next time you know someone who wants to go see a show...tell them to buy the tickets when they go on sale, and to stop bitching because none are left the day of the performance. --Yru Onidm _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
