i borrowed an mj cole album of a friend who actually produces some 2-step
stuff...pretty interesting. it has the elements of old-school DnB, the
skattery syncopation...not nearly as complex or with the velocity, but i
think thats the point. the nice deep dubby basslines are there, and a dose
of RnB vocals and synth/piano stabs...all in all some pretty light/funky
sounds, i think ppl felt a need to create this music as DnB went off into
the crunch crunch tech-step/industrial vein.
i don't think i am going to run out and buy a whole bunch of this stuff, but
i appreciate it for what it is...and i can see it eventually blowing-up in
clubland US...i live in cleveland, and a scene for 2-step is already
starting in pittsburgh...i bet some in england are already tired of :UK
garage: :2-step: though.
